This is an exploration of the perpetual motion of humans living in cities around the world. In a serie of evocative studies that illustrate the restless human psyche, Binu captures the never-ending universal haste to get somewhere or achieve something.
This project is Binu’s pre-occupation with a constant state of flux, of people moving from one city to another. In impressionistic compositions, his images entwine movement and uniformity, while exploring the tension, the relationships of people in different contexts, crowded situations and emotional moments.
Binu has been a keen and long-time observer of crowds, right from his days as a student. He is engrossed with the movement and energy of crowded spaces. In Human Race, he mostly chooses a transitory time to capture this motion, late evenings when restlessness seems at its peak. Here we see people, even when in larger groups, having created their own personal zone and oftentimes lost in their own private thoughts.
